During Summer 2000, "Castle Creek" the country house of Joseph T. Wells and his wife Judy, located on a 35 acre country-seat just outside the town of Bellville, Texas, was completed. It was their wish to install a small tracker organ in the music room and just at that time such an instrument, built in 1980 by Jan L. van den Heuvel - Orgelbouw bv, became available.Early September arrangements were made with the (first) owner, Mr. Han Vermeulen. Before the organ was shipped to Bellville in November 2000 the organ was throughout checked and the reserved rank was added. The organ case is made of African mahogany, the woodcarvings, hand made from French-lime, as well as the mouth of the display pipes and name plates are gold plated with 23,5 Karat gold-leaf. The stop knobs are made from Black Ebony and the sheeks at both sides of the keyboard received inlay work of Ivory and Ebony. The pedal board was made of European oak. In December 2000 the organ, which is the smallest organ ever built by Van den Heuvel, was installed and received its final voicing. Afterwards Judy Wells played the inaugural concert. |
